  •  The book didn't have Obama joking. (16+ / 0-)

The actual paragraph is posted by angry marmot and Chaucer2 and is not a jokey, bragging president.  That is added by the MSM.

Certainly not a brag, but the sort of weak "joke" one makes when trying to make light of a horrible truth about themselves. Here's how you can tell if it was a joke: if someone had accused him of being insensitive about making light about killing people, do you think he'd have replied that he was "just kidding", or not?

That he's actually feeling the weight of the decisions that are part and parcel of his office?

I don't have a problem with that.  I don't feel the need to pretend that Obama's reveling in his chance to use fatal force.

If nobody thinks it's important that the decisions weigh on Obama's mind, then people can feel free to stop misrepresenting the book.  The psychic gratification that comes from lying about someone that you disagree with on policy grounds is not sufficient to justify the lie.

And anyone who thinks that the real issue is something else can write a diary on it without the provocation of a slander that Obama revels in the work, and see how that works out for them.   My guess is that all the folks who are digging the provocation will disappear and the diary will drop like a stone.

        •  that he's good at killing people. and he knows it (6+ / 0-)

          and acknowledges it.

keep in mind he didn't say he was good at fighting terrorism, of killing terrorists either. or good at war. he said he's good at killing people.

If he said, "I'm good at fighting terror", you'd be jumping all over him for ignoring the fact that fighting terror requires the killing of people and for turning his orders into mere abstractions.

Instead, he faces exactly what he's doing, without sugar coating, in a pensive moment.

            Think about it.

going on in a bunch of countries we are not at war with is pretty much a bad thing. you don't.

but he used the term killing people. and it's something he's good at. and he knows it. yay team!

Actually, the difference is that I think telling lies is a bad thing.  This diary doesn't even touch whether the killings are justified, just whether Obama has a blood lust.

As I suggested to PhilJD, if anyone really wants a discussion of the policy, they can write a diary without a silly provocation as its premise and write about the policy.  All the people who dig the provocation will fail to attend and it'll drop like a stone.

                  hate Ted Rall.

in fact, the diarist actually even addressed it somewhere.

i'm not the liar in this conversation.

                  good day Inland.

I'm fully aware it's only okay to hate Obama, and that there's a vigorous search for a reason to do so.  It just misses, that's all.

people.  That's part of his job, killing people for the Americans.   For the chickenshit Americans "safety".
