      from AZ. He's a crafty, scheming, player who "makes deals" with NJ Dems.
      (He's also got a lot of baggage as a result.)

      Cruz is similar to Palin, but not as stupid. Palin was a "hot commodity" for the ultra right early on, but Cruz is more than that. He's their shining knight, who has "bravely" taken on the establishment. He's (unfortunately) big in Texas, big enough that the whacks are looking for another one like him to take on Cornyn.
      McCain's narrative was "the fundamentals of the economy are sound", (not a winning narrative in 2008).
      Christie's: "I'm in charge. I'm putting the tea party in detention. They're on probation. Etc."

      I'm waiting to hear Christie to say something about foreign policy. That will be interesting.
      It's possible that Christie would pick someone like Mike Rogers. That wouldn't help much with the base even though Rogers is conservative.

      You can't make this stuff up.
