  •  I am so sorry you have to live through this (6+ / 0-)

in the state you probably care about.

I'm inflamed  by it ,and I'm far away and pretty safe in MA of this sickness they have. At least locally.

National Republicans of course do threaten my life. I'm on SNAP, Disability (SSDI) and Medicaid.

I do care about this state---I was born and raised here and have lived here all my life (I'm in my 60s). I don't recognize it anymore.  It's just painful to see what is happening to our education system, our economy, our environment and all of it is due to the Republican legislature and the creep who is the governor.  This is not the WI I grew up in where people truly cared about the well-being of others and were truly kind and caring people.  The chilling hate these Republicans give off is just sickening.  Anyone who is not "them", they hate and despise.

I hear you about what national Republicans are doing to you and others who need SNAP, SSDI and Medicaid.  There is a meanness in these people that is just vile.  We've got to stop them from harming people who deserve our help and support and the sooner we can knock them out of our politics, the better.  That goal keeps me going every single day.

"A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." - from the prophet Jeremiah

I love my state and it's sometimes-grumpy people who oftentimes underneath are deeply caring when push comes to shove. I'd be despondent to see what has been stirred up by the Republicans elsewhere if it were here.

I'd always worked in non profit so had that mindset of "we are all in it together" for most of my life. Ironically now I am on the receiving end and find the giving hand is turning into a clenched fist and it is scary.

I think you are a good writer. Do you write letters to the editor? Many people don't have the time, but your letter reminding your people who they once were, letters like that, Dems and other concerned citizens speaking up like that, could be helpful.

I just think that people are complicated...that same goodness is still inside the people of your state they just have been mildly but probably literally brainwashed. A reminding of who they are, that dialogue, is necessary. Even  the blueness in Texas is waking up now after a generation of slumber.

Wendy Davis is talking about how she is ProLife in real sense of the people who were already born, pro safety net, pro education, pro healthcare access for all. Even if she does not win her way with words and truth and her authenticity is waking the more open minded people up. I wish a Wendy Davis on your state, 3goldens.(you have 3 dogs?) She is good for the people in Texas and our country.

We need leaders who bring out the best in people, not the worst. That's what's probably happened where you are. We need the press to be the watchdogs and truth tellers  they once were, too. Then people wouldn't be so misinformed and draw opinions based on false "facts".

that you expressed so well in your comment, mirror mine exactly.  And we're likely the same age.

I'm also a product of Wisconsin, educated in the Milwaukee Public School system and our state university at a time when taxpayer support provided 70% of the funding.  I graduated with no debt, only gratitude knowing that my tax dollars would be used for the next generation and the benefit of my state.

Sadly, no more.  Now state university students foot the bill for 70% of their education and more and more of that has gone towards building academic ivory towers, lavish offices for the higher ups, and non-academic areas.

I want kids to day to have what I had;  excellent educations and great opportunity to do better than their parents.  Sadly, with Republicans in charge, they're getting screwed out of everything.

        Thanks for your excellent post.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.
