Cheers to some glorious late fall days, and getting out to hike in woods carpeted in swirls of orange leaves.

Jeers to having to worry about getting shot while doing so now that it's deer season.

Cheers to having plenty of orange clothing to put on.

Jeers to NH State Senate Republicans, who are still dithering about how to expand Medicaid without, you know, expanding Medicaid.

Jeers to Anthem BCBS, which according to a report on Maine Public Radio is offering ACA plans with NO OUT OF NETWORK COVERAGE. And their network ends at the state line. Say what? Mainers, apparently you shouldn't even think about crossing state lines for treatment.

But Cheers to Maine for having another provider on their exchange. At least you Mainers have a choice. Here next door, we ONLY have Anthem. I've written a state rep to find out if the Anthem plans are the same here as in Maine, with zero out of network coverage. Sheesh. Yet another way we can find ourselves paying vast fortunes even though we may have "insurance."

And ongoing Jeers to the fact that the ACA removes the asset test for low income people to get on Medicaid, but leaves in place estate recovery for those 55 and up. And in NH, like a lot of states, that's for everything, not just long term care. Watch out, all low income folks ages 55-64. If you find you may qualify for Medicaid, read all the fine print very carefully.
