Via a conference support contractor -- I really mostly assembled publications and caught and fixed obvious typos, made sure graphics were acceptable, re-sized and re-rezzed where needed, assembled drafts for review by study chairs and submitted for publication when done...

Whenever I didn't get something, I went back to the study chairs for clarification.  I got called "tech writer" and "publications manager";  definitely not what I had in mind when I studied physics at UCF, but it did pay for my 2005 Prius and kept me and at least one of my cats on the chubby side of healthy..

I also communicated and coordinated a lot, pushing slide shows (.ppt) and publications (.pdf) where they needed to go, and arranging meetings and VTCs and many other such.
