It seems to me that starting at $20/hr, which is considerably above the inflation-adjusted correction needed to restore the original level, would be so far beyond any justification that it would not be useful as a negotiating tool.

To drag the Overton Window back towards properly feeding, clothing, housing, educating and treating every American, we need people demanding publicly, loudly, and organized for media attention the extreme. The Federal minimum wage should be paid to every working age person before they're considered for any other public assistance, and in addition to any private income. Every working age person.

The way negotiating works, especially as redefined by the rightwing, Overton trolls outside the bounds of any mutuality, or even practicality (and nowadays beyond sanity or even possibility) are necessary to drag the window of what's possible to negotiate on to include one's position.

Starting at $20:h is probably an asset in public discussion to get to the negotiating table with even close to what's actually necessary or acceptable.

It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.
