    Its not just that Republicans vote while Democrats stay home, its that extremist Republicans vote while normal Republicans stay home (if normal Republicans even exist anymore).

      We have to figure out how to motivate moderate GOP'ers to get out and vote as well as the millions of potentially democratic voters who don't bother to show up?

        Its the fact that the religious right and teaparty Republicans vote in such large numbers that they exercise so much control over the GOP. That's how you wind up with government shutdowns and debt limit fights.
