  •  There is definitely movement in the church (3+ / 0-)

Granted, I don't personally know that many Mormons. For a number of years, my brother and his family converted and became Mormons, but they have since left the church. Before I was out, I also dated a devout Mormon in high school, and we remain friends to this day. She has certainly evolved on the LGBT issue, and even on the issue of marriage equality--she sits in the Harry Reid camp on that one. Her mom, also a devout Mormon, consistently "likes" anything related to my boyfriend and me on Facebook. The LDS grassroots are getting more and more reasonable on our issues. There is certainly a long way to go, but I have very high hopes for the future when it comes to the role Mormons can potentially play in advancing our civil rights.

I don't mind if you're straight. Just don't flaunt it in public.
