    on this. To wit:

There are many people who don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Telling them they can't work on Thanksgiving is taking food from their babies' mouths! It's a horrible, intolerable Christianist assault on people of different faiths! A WAR on Those Who Are Different! And I'm sure MEN are behind it!

    Down with holidays!
    Down with banks!
Hell, no! We aren't giving thanks!

Okay, seriously now: as disgusting as the rampant commercialism of "the holidays" is, and as much as we might like as many people as possible to be at home with family, there really are those who don't observe the holiday, or (like me) don't have anyone with whom to spend it, or just plain need the money. And since there's nothing we can do about the aforementioned rampant commercialism (other than stay far away from retail establishments), allow me to suggest that there might be an upside, hwoever slight, to this situation.

So are you working retail on Thursday? Are you going in for someone who'd rather be home with their family? It doesn't work like that.

You're gonna need a bigger boat.
