    Consumers not customers.

Smart, informed, and thoughtful are most likely undesirable traits for all but the most 'serious' of corporate sponsors. You know, the ones who spend billions to advertise to consumers but have no products or services for sale to them: ADM, Boeing, Cargill, etc... "Hey, we're really a nice company. We make your life better even though you don't know it and do not have a relationship with us. Everything is cool..."

I think people in the Democratic party have to get rid of this romanticized notion of company and customer when it comes to media, marketing, and PR. It's dangerous.

Corporate sponsors are the customers of the corporate media, they are the ones who get massaged, serviced, and taken care of. Us consumers, we are the product being sold.

We are not the customers of the media and their content is not the product. CNN has no obligation to us, their product.

Their obligation is to inform us in a manner that creates and delivers good consumers to their big giant corporate advertisers. Their only job is to inform us into better consumption.

Democracy - 1 person 1 vote. Free Markets - More dollars more power.
