But when the left used exactly the same techniques as the right, "arguments" aimed directly at the lizard brain, I would hope they get called out on it.

"Frankenfish" my ass. On a 1-10 scale of logical debate, that comes in at about -3.

But this sort of crap has been going on for years. The witless clowns behind it have never realized that the right wing does that sort of thing far more smoothly.

I remember picking up a magazine years ago, of a left-wing persuasion, which led off with an article on how Nestle and other companies were endangering the health of children in Africa by promoting the use of baby formula to feed young children as more "modern" than breast feeding, deploying a whole series of dishonest and dubiously honest emotional appeals to guilt-trip African mothers into using what under the circumstances was an inferior and even dangerous product. It was a very well-written article, careful and dispassionate, and no doubt accurate for the most part.

But then, in the second or third piece in the magazine, about some French philosopher they didn't care for at the time, all of the Nestle techniques were dusted off and redeployed in the service of "virtue." Image manipulation. Innuendo. Anecdotes without antidotes. Language games. A few things that Nestle hadn't found useful, at least in Africa: for instance, the Friedmanesque quotes of convenience from the anonymous "common man" (I forget if he was a taxi driver). And it stank of dishonesty.

So enjoy your "Frankenfish," and all the other rhetorical toys you can think up. Just don't expect anyone to take you too seriously. You are trying to emulate Nestle, but you don't have their skill in delivering the message, only their dishonesty in manipulating it.
