liberal Protestant churches by evangelicals possibly since the early 70's. I first heard about it in the 90's.

Two of my late Mom's Presbyterian churches were targeted. They got one; the other rebuffed them but lost a lot of membership.

on other diaries;  I do remember your commenting on Falwell's strategy of "steeplejacking" and the Seven Mountain political philosophy which underlies Dominionism.

I wish you would do a diary on your Mom's two churches and what happened there.  Too many people don't know about steeple jacking and the MSM ignores the issue.

My wife's father was a Presbyterian minister, my brother is an SBC preacher and I myself have been known to hang around seminaries at a certain age  so I have kind of an inside view of the profession.

movement could well be an example of what you are talking about, but with the Catholic Church rather than mainline Protestants. I've met a few of them, and they seem to fit it more with Pentecostals than the Catholicism of my youth in the sixties and seventies. I've heard of whole Catholic parishes that have been taken over by the Charismatic culture.
