  •  Good morning (13+ / 0-)

Are there any words you mispronounced as a child (such as "basketti" instead of spaghetti) that you recall? Are there any that your family still uses now?

No to using now.  Heffalump (for elephant) was one that I remember because my brother's stuffed elephant toy got named that.

How do you feel about the rapidly changing language (especially with the onset of the internet)? Are you happy with changes, or do you wish all those new words and new meanings for old words would just go away?

I don't mind changes to the meanings of words.  Or rather I should say I don't mind words acquiring new meanings.  However I often am fond of the older ways in which words were used and I admit to being sad to see them drop out of use.

What day does your trash get picked up? What agency does it, or is it a private business? Do they recycle?

Friday is the day.  Both trash and recycling although they are picked up by two different trucks.  It is a private business under contract with the county (I live just outside the city limits - inside Tallahassee the city does trash and recycling pick up).

One of the oddest situations I've experienced re trash pick up was in Urbana IL where I used to live.  Despite its reputation as the 'Socialist Republic of Urbana' trash pick up there was entirely private.  Each household contracted individually with one of several private companies to have their trash taken away.  Recycling was done by the city.  This led to a lot of inefficiency as several different trucks would come down our street each week to get the trash from one or two households each.  It was doubly strange as Urbana had very high property tax rates and, otherwise, excellent public services (public transport, library) for a town of its size.

Is there (or has there been) any actor that you like so much you would go see any film he (or she) is in?

I can't think of any modern actors who would fall into that category.  Maybe Barbara Stanwyck?  Charles Laughton?  Spencer Tracey?  Asta (whatever Asta's actual name was) for sure.
