throughout our history. Many regions of the country, the Midwest, the Rockies have long populist histories. Populism receded as neoliberalism became the dominant philosophy in the Democratic Party. The GOP has always been the party of rich elites and when the Democrats joined them, there was no major party espousing populism. That was sustainable as long as the neoliberal mirage endured, but now we've seen that approach collapse and we know that neoliberalism, in the end, only protects the Rich.

Now, ironically, there may be more populism on the Right than on the Left in America. In any ever, the field is wide open for a real economic populist like Warren.
