  •  Adults who were vaccinated against polio (6+ / 0-)

    as children don't normally need polio vaccine, but it is still recommended that you get a booster if you plan to travel to a polio-infested area:

    The vaccine itself carries no more risks that any other vaccine, as long as you get the injected kind (which consists of dead virus). Oral polio vaccine contains live but weakened virus, that exceptionally rarely can actually cause a polio infection. This risk is already very tiny, and can be eliminated entirely but getting the injected vaccine.
