People frequently seem to be unaware that the document was never proven to be a counterfeit.

Happily not in this diary/comments, but I've recently seen a lot of statements here that suggest the Rove narrative was effective even with those that lean left.

    Helpful link, thx FrY10cK

    •  Evolution never proven either... (0+ / 0-)

...by those standards.  It was a laughable forgery.  The fact it wasn't physically impossible doesn't change that.

research the story. I'm not going to do it for you.

Because the theory of evolution is just like a xerox of a old document, huh?

Your comment is false, ignores the facts of the case, and denies every morsel of context... but yay aggressive snark.

I knew someone was going to say something like that. Always with the same patronizing. dismissive sneer, too... Every time, no matter the source.

For anyone that isn't MGross/Karl Rove, check out kossack exlrrp's excellent series ('The Bush Military History Project'), Hagan's article in Texas Monthly (for a quick review), and the DK tag 'memogate' (I'm technically at work, and sadly have no time to link...easy finds though)

I won't be debating this with you, MGross (no doubt proof that I'm being paid by Rather, or Kerry, or...something)

      •  The secretary who ostensibly typed it.. (4+ / 0-)

said that she did not write the particular document that made its way into Rather's hands. But, she said, all of the information it contained WAS ACCURATE, and that she had written similar documents. It was the info that was supposed to be the bombshell. The document itself was a distraction.
