  •  Farmer's Markets around here are too expensive. (3+ / 0-)

I live 4 blocks from the Olympia Farmer's Market and can't even think about shopping there.  Farmer's Markets used to be a place where farmers and even backyard gardeners took their excess produce to sell during he summer.   They weren't craft fairs in fancy building and sheds.  Organics had not been invented.  Food was cheap.  Now it's all Organic and you have to be approved to sell.  You can't just show up when you have a bumper crop of Zucchini and Tomatoes to sell.  There are double the amount of crafts to food producers and the prices are double to triple commercially grown supermarket grade vegetables.

Of course you get what you pay for and I know the food is better and tastes better too but if you can afford to shop at the Olympia Farmer's market you don't need SNAP.  That's what most people don't seem to understand.  Even with a 3d. off I can still beat their prices with selective shopping.
