    are in the majority in the future. There is a principle at stake here and that is that nominees get a vote. It's beyond time for us to make the country governable again. Otherwise the United States will decay to the point where it will simply cease to matter. Already, a number of States are forging new and distinct paths on a number of fronts that conflict directly with Federal policy and, in some cases legislation (e.g. marijuana). So, the rot has set in and fragmentation over the next decade will be the result. One thinks of the Ottoman Empire in its latter stages.

    Voting is the means by which the public is distracted from the realities of power and its exercise.
