    Greetings, all!!

JEERS to waiting. Maybe I should actually be cheering about not having received a "sorry, no" letter from Dartmouth, but my anxiety level rises just a little bit with every passing day.

CHEERS to Pascal Dusapin, whose Concerto for Violin and Orchestra had its American debut last night. All of us in the Seattle Symphony Orchestra audience were entranced by the piece. It's the best 21st-century classical composition I've heard.

CHEERS as well to Renaud Capuçon, violinist extraordinaire, whose virtuosity (especially in the instrument's uppermost register) was astonishing. Here's a snippet (autoplay, but you'll have time to mute it if desired) of Capuçon talking about his collaboration with the composer:

JEERS to the wind. Quite the bluster hereabouts this evening.

I'll always be UID:180, even if Markos tries to pry it away.
