  •  A very good question (11+ / 0-)

I've never heard of any other state with similar provisions, but then again, I hadn't heard about MI's special situation until earlier this year. So there could conceivably be others.

      •  I don't (0+ / 0-)

I don't get this comment.  How is Michigan a sick state for having this provision?  It doesn't favor one party.  Maybe it's a bad provision, a bad way to make policy, but this kind of provision is an old progressive one.

The blame here is squarely on the Republicans for what they are using it for, or maybe on those way back that put this provision in for not seeing the unintended consequences of it.

And, I can assure you that for as much as this state regresses, to here someone from of the routinely reddest states in the nation criticize us as "sick" is just precious.  Sorry.

        •  This provision and the emergency manager law seem (0+ / 0-)

to me to be two of the most undemocratic laws I've heard of in a very long time. That is what I meant. If you think this provision is progressive, I guess we have different ideas of what that means. And living in Utah doesn't disqualify me from voicing my opinion.

    •  Would this provision conflict with the PPACA? (1+ / 0-)

What does the PPACA require under obstetric and gynecological coverage? I'm assuming abortion is a covered procedure or else why would anti-abortion activists go to all the trouble of mandating a separate rider?
