  •  The floodgates sure have opened! (6+ / 0-)

I'm lucky to live in an equality state with strong laws barring discrimination in employment, housing, etc. While the fundamental right to marry the one you love is something I take very seriously, let's not forget that in many states, people can still be fired for just BEING LGBT.

I'm all for marriage equality--but let's not forget we have a long way to go in this country to full equality for LGBT folks.

Yes, 2013 was an excellent year in many ways for gay rights.

    •  Yes we have a long way to go... but (1+ / 0-)

as someone living in Texas, things are still very different for us.  We were married in November, we have Federal Recognition of our marriage, have reduced taxes, and a feeling of acceptance as a married couple, even here in Texas.

      It was an amazing year.

And it is amazing at how fast the rest of the states seem to be falling...

We DO have a long way to go... but we also came a long, long way in 2013.

    •  Yeah, here in Indiana (0+ / 0-)

Were my boss to find out I'm bi I'd be fired faster than you can say "at will state". I've got cover (I'm married to a wonderful woman who is fine with sharing me with my boyfriend), but it sucks that I can't be out at work.
