    •  If your insurance policy is canceled (0+ / 0-)

effective December 31, 2013, and you're not able to afford to sign up for next year's policy that begins January 1, 2014, then what do you do?

Thankfully, I'm not in that position now, but that's not to say I couldn't be in the next six weeks.

      •  how many victims? (0+ / 0-)

Is there anyone out there that you know of that finds themselves in this predicament?

        1. Their policy is cancelled this year
        2. Their policy would not have been cancelled except for the fact it doesn't comply with the ACA.
        3. Their new ACA policy options are all more costly than last year's cancelled policy, even with any subsidy they may qualify for.
        4. Without the ACA they would have been able to keep their old policy at the same price as last year, or at an increase less than or equal to the subsidy they may be qualified for.

To be victimized by Obama's claim that you can keep your old policy , etc., requires you to jump through all 4 of those hoops. Even if you are able to do so, the policy you would have to pay more for would be of much higher quality than the policy you used to have so even if it may have a slightly higher up front cost, it will likely save you much more money on the back end in covering previously unreimbursed costs.

Does anyone have any idea how many people we are talking about here? It certainly sounds like a very small percentage of Americans, but that is only an educated guess.
