  •  The 6th Sen District is pretty red isn't it? (5+ / 0-)

I've always thought of the Eastern Shore as being solid red. Have there been recent polls showing how Mr Lewis will fare?

Here in Roanoke Delegate (11th district) Onzlee Ware has announced his retirement. There are a number of electable Democrats vying for his seat against former city Sheriff Octavia Johnson running as a Republican.

As many as six Democrats could be in the running to succeed Ware. Roanoke City Councilman Court Rosen and former mayoral candidate Sam Rasoul said Thursday that they will seek the Democratic nomination for Ware’s seat. Rosen already had campaign signs out Friday, having recycled and modified signs he had used for his council re-election run last year.

Trish White-Boyd, a local Democratic organizer and owner of a home health care agency, will announce her candidacy today. Two more Democrats, Councilman David Trinkle and Roanoke native Keith Wheaton, founder of JBT Media Holdings, said they are strongly considering getting in the race and will make decisions early next week.

    Yesterday's Roanoke Times.

    •  Northam turned it blue and Lewis (8+ / 0-)

hopes to keep it that way.

An idea is not responsible for who happens to be carrying it at the moment. It stands or falls on its own merits.

       Lynwood Lewis (6+ / 0-)
Saturday is very important. Only Lynwood Lewis can win the 6th Senate District in a special election. I was part of Ralph Northam's first campaign for this seat and it was his strength as an Eastern Shore native that allowed us to knock off an incumbent Republican. Norfolk votes for the Democrat because it's the base turnout region of the district. The Eastern Shore trends Republican unless they have a native on the ballot to cross party lines for. Last week Terry McAuliffe only pulled 52% of the vote in the 6th Senate District, but Ralph Northam received 65% of the vote in the district because he pulled independents and Republicans on the Eastern Shore. Only Ralph Northam and Lynwood Lewis have been able to make the Eastern Shore go blue. If Democrats nominate Lynwood Lewis on Saturday they will have a candidate who can carry the Republican region of the 6th Senate District in the special election. I know all three candidates very well, and all are great Democrats. But with stakes this high, we cannot afford to nominate anyone but the strongest candidate with a sure path to Democratic victory in this important special election. That candidate is Lynwood Lewis. Please support keeping the 6th Senate District blue by helping his campaign, now:
