  •  Okay, I've decided I'm going to get the 913. (8+ / 0-)

after looking at the close-up pictures, the outside & controls are exactly the same as my beloved but not fully functional 813. So the only difference is, the 913 puts out 9.2 megapixels vs. 8.2 megapixels. It's worth going up a little file size. So that decision is made.

Now, do I wanna risk getting a used camera that I can afford ... that is the question!

    •  What exactly is likely to wear out (7+ / 0-)

      much sooner
      on the $16 used camera,
      that would last years longer
      on the $200 new?

      is the low price
      because of possible glitches
      or total malfunction
      of one or more features?

      I don't have a digital camera,
other than what's in my phone,
but they should be very reliable,
so the $16 camera should be okay.

      Unless you have heard stories
      of disaster used cameras.

      By the way,
I think I know what you mean
      about newer devices
      having some clever automated feature,
      and it doesn't give you
      a manual override.

      I believe in manual overrides
      for everything.

      Rolling down windows
      in a car.

      Adjusting the mirrors.
