    Never underestimate the resilience of the Filipino people.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the city ends up losing a quarter to a third of its population, though, as many will end up starting a new life in either Manila or Cebu.

    I hope that the relief packages for Tacloban also include hammers, saws, and lots of nails.

      Another aspect of this disaster is that Cebu City (and to a lesser degree Manila) is now getting flooded with thousands of refugees, who will need to stay somewhere long term. So the financial burden will fall on people in those cities as well.

      The Rapture will be cancelled due to budget cuts. -- Bill in Portland
