  •  That was in the diary in which the comment (0+ / 0-)

was made? WOW. So now we HR people for information that is not in the diary to whcih they respond and not in linked newspaper articles. WOW.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

No need to continue this fruitless discussion.

...better the occasional faults of a government that lives in a spirit of charity, than the consistent omissions of a government frozen in the ice of its own indifference. -FDR, 1936

This is a bizarre issue for someone to make a stand on. "I will defend to the death your right to speak ill of the recently deceased mentally ill!" But it wasn't a good idea to HR the original comment in the first place, because of course it attracted this kind of unwanted, weirdly misplaced attention.

But I intensely dislike that we can't use the tools we are given on this website to enforce our community standards without somebody or two parachuting in from nowhere to chastise us and defend somebody's right to say trollish or dickish things that go against what is deemed to be acceptable on DKE.

Is this something you could bring to Markos' attention? I don't know if there's an easy remedy, but it's becoming quite galling.

There's probably nothing that can be done.

Trust me, you don't want this coming to anyone's attention but mine.

And we do have tools: You can ignore someone, or you can use your words instead of a hide-rate. We never had hide ratings at SSP, after all. The comment that triggered this whole dumb thread could have been dealt with entirely by comments, not HRs.
