    The idea that government should just shrug (and, of course, change its policies) when its secrets are revealed is not embraced by any government in the world, however progressive (and however faux-progressive it appears when the spilled secrets are American, like Ecuador or Russia), any more than the notion of property-is-theft is embraced by people who have property.  Right now press freedom in the US--I can't speak knowledgeable about the UK--means that you can publish anything, but if it's legally protected information the person who gives it to you is going to have legal consequences for publishing it.  I don't see what's so bad about that.
