    There is always a chance of running into the wrong people.    In the city, someone might notice.  Off the beaten path is off the beaten path and does require one to first take a highway to get there.   I've often considered driving to Quintanaroo, and heck, why not further towards Honduras, etc.   Was always concerned it sounded like a better idea than a reality.  

    No doubt, the charity and adventure sound like great ideas.

    What we need is a Democrat in the White House. Warren 2016

      A friend of mine just left California for Merida two days ago. She's held up by road closures in New Mexico (ice and snow on the Interstate), but plans to be there the weekend after Thanksgiving.

      She's a single woman, driving a new VW Beetle and bringing her cat.

      It's a long drive from the US to Yucatan or Quintana Roo, but many do it. Another guy from Chicago just did it. There are a couple thousand US-citizen homeowners in Merida and Progreso and many of them drive down, even from Canada, every year. All through the "drug war years."
