    Very disturbing.  What happened to due process?  First of all, with all the cameras and merchandise tags the big chain stores have, there should be evidence of shoplifting if someone actually did it.  Secondly, under what circumstances would a store find it necessary to accuse an employee or customer of shoplifting without filing a police report or pressing charges?

    The only productive reason for these extrajudicial slaughters of reputations I can think of is as a threat to cow employees into submission and discourage 'the wrong kind of people' from shopping at your store.
