    "Zombies" have a history in literature dating back to at least Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and were used by George Romero in 1968 as a metaphor for people who in law enforcement and positions of authority.

    Apparently, right wingers are now trying to appropriate the zombie for themselves, which I think points to an interesting shift in American politics.  Would be a great Halloween diary, yes?

    I also find it strange though that the CDC would publish a graphic novel about the Zombie Apocalypse.  Are these my tax dollars at work?

      No matter where you are sitting, it's a convenient label/metaphor for thine enemies. In a stroke, you can symbolize them as brainless non-humans who must be exterminated.
