  •  Why yes, yes I would (14+ / 0-)

You can't correct a "mistake" by making another one?

We have achieved nothing.  The Afghans remain a feuding, feudal and tribal society that will continue to be a feuding, feudal and tribal society.

But, but, but "we're going to have a loya jirga, where the wise elders of all the tribes get together to decide what is acceptable"... Karazi defers to the loya jirga, or so he says.

Yeah, that will work out well...

    •  Oh, they're all just a bunch of primitive, dumb, (0+ / 0-)

      brown people, huh?

How very liberal and progressive of you...

Moving pictures speak more than words:

I don't have time to respond to the rest of the comments, which really don't demonstrate all that much knowledge about the history or the current situation in Afghanistan.

Feel free to continue depicting Afghans as a bunch of primitives, though, if that's your cup of tea.

      •  Well, in all fairness, (5+ / 0-)

we do a pretty good job of proving our lack of moral superiority or cultural advancement to them every time we waste one of their wedding parties . . . with a second Mr. Droney to wipe out those tending to the wounded and collecting the dead.

        •  This right here is the perfect example of why it (0+ / 0-)

is impossible to have a discussion that is even close to being objective on Afghanistan with some people.

You take one event, that took place in Pakistan during the Bush era and pretend like it is a regular occurrence and that it happened in Afghanistan.

That's uninformed, at best, manipulative, at worst.

And it completely ignores the fact that the Taliban and related groups have been responsible for 80 to 90% of civilian deaths in Afghanistan.

      •  The race card? Really? (4+ / 0-)

Me thinks I am not the one that is demonstrating all that much knowledge about the history or current situation in Afghanistan.

Is there no point when even your superior progressive intellect has to say enough?  Ever?

your serious ignorance about the past and present circumstances in Afghanistan, but alas, I don't and will simply have to leave you to your self-righteous yet sadly ill-informed musings.

But by all means, carry on with your self-important reflections, and simply ignore the numerous criticisms of your position posted here,  as they are clearly too simple-minded for your sophisticated intellect to bother with.

      •  How many decades will it take to get back to (4+ / 0-)

the time when women were doctors, teachers and members of parliament like they were in 1950 and 1960?

The Taliban would never have come into power without US intervention in Afghanistan. The world is getting fucking tired of American "humanitarian" help.
