  •  My sister lives in very blue Dekalb County with (7+ / 0-)

a very diverse population and Democrats win office easily in her district.   It is a blue oasis in a sea of red. The state is red but her area is deep blue.

So that part of Georgia could be an oasis for you but you still have that red state thing to contend with

    •  Yeah, it's right here. (7+ / 0-)

      Visit there all the time.

My house tax where I live is like $800/year: It would be nearly $4000 a year in Dekalb.

Plus Dekalb cops are the worst.

      •  And my sister is retiring this year and that is (2+ / 0-)

why , as much as she loves her diverse community in a blue district and region, she may decide to move back to PA.  The taxes, cost of living, rents, mortgages are much higher in her region than here.   She has such a strong network of friends and colleagues and great neighbors that it is going to be very very difficult for her to move someday, if she decides to do that. But she is worried that the higher cost of living in Dekalb County might be too much long term.
