    include everyone in holiday wishes? Ruins an otherwise decent diary about the crappy way Thanksgiving's been marginalized.

      I wonder if this person realizes that those who celebrated that first Thanksgiving wouldn't have allowed CATHOLICS in their colony.

      Last year I had my MiL and younger SiL over for dinner. They are very Christian.  I handled it by NOT doing MiL's thing of saying a prayer while we all hold hands (one of the many reasons we don't do the big family thing; last year the ex-BiL had SiL's child for the holiday, and MiL was doing the get-together on SUnday) so we simply said what we were thankful for--no blessings mentioned. The rule is, I think, for right-wing Christians, that everyone else must recognize THEIR holiday but they can be assholes about everyone else's.

      The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
