  •  I'm so sorry to hear this. (11+ / 0-)

    This is terrible.

We need to stop fighting a war on immigrants.

And 'Fighting a war on immigrants'. Is everybody who enters the U.S. now considered to be on equal footing no matter how they enter the U.S.? Everybody's just an 'immigrant' now?

And what of 'fighting a war on immigrants'? If, as in the case in question, the U.S. deports somebody who has entered the U.S. illegally, that individual enters the U.S. again, the government issues an expedited removal order for that individual, and that individual eludes the government for ten years only to be caught, when the government deports that individual for a second time, this is considered a 'war on immigrants'?

      Please.

      •  Yep. We're talking about nativist bullshit here. (0+ / 0-)

After the Treaty of Union in 1707, Scottish and Scots-Irish immigration to the colonies began. And the anglocentric folks pretty much freaked out.

It's the same nativist bullshit over and over and over again.

An unending war on immigrants that has existed in these lands longer than we've been the United States.
