on whether a "blue dog" is the best choice in Republican districts. In many cases, the voters will just pick the real thing, because you're not offering an alternative.

To claim that a blue dog is no different than a Tea Party radical is an act of vaulting bigotry and narrow-mindedness.  It represents stunning fealty to the lobotomizing left-right political axis.  It means the left has fools as bad as the right.

Also I don't see anything that explicitly equates Tea Partiers and Blue Dog Democrats. Just because one isn't an alternative doesn't mean it's an equivalent.

I agree with anastasia p-I would say that if voters are presented with a "real" Republican (and, face it, the Tea Party IS the real face of Republicanism in much of the country) and a fake Democrat, they'll be inclined to choose the Republican.

I get that that is not a popular opinion on this Website, which for a long time was devoted to electing "more and better Democrats" even at the expense of quality. However, reality shows that, for example, Machin and Tester disappoint a lot more than they surprise.

Of course, I'd avoid the dichotomy entirely by voting for a third party. Unsurprisingly, this viewpoint is also unpopular on this Website, but that doesn't make it any less valid.

with Blue Dog Sen. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, who handily defeated Richard "Rape babies are God's Will" Mourdock, who had clobbered Sen. Richard Lugar in the primary. Donnelly has since evolved on LGBT rights and gun control, even if not on abortion. I campaigned for him, and later got up a petition to prod him in his evolution. Many others, of course, did far more than I did.
