  •  The reality is Mass-Reach Media is doing their job (1+ / 0-)

Which is, first and foremost, to keep the people from as far from having meaningful say in their governance as possible.

It will take either a massive campaign of 'for three months, we are not buying your stuff' -- and given that only Congress and used car salesmen are more reviled than the Corporate Media, that's not out of reach if it were organized -- or Democratic politicians calling it out and calling it out by the name "propaganda" as you suggest they do.

Forcing media's news-readers and editors to change their philosophy from just reporting 'he said/she said' to actually doing their job: inform the electorate.

Don't really see that happening without first the people bankrupting them.

    •  A good start would be not watching TV *at all* (1+ / 0-)

      If TV was a person
      Not worth it

Or boycotting Black Friday (also known as International Buy Nothing Day).

But even among progressives, most are not ready and cannot be persuaded to give up TV and consumerism.

All the Right has to do, on the other hand, is exploit Americans' addiction to TV and consumerism. It's easy for them because TV and film's essential nature is their ability to get our brains to accept illusion as reality.

      •  The boycott TV idea is useless. (0+ / 0-)

Unless it were for a definite time with a definite message attached. For instance, a few million canceling their cable with a message similar to what I said when canceling in March 2003: I'm not paying to be lied to.

In practice, even if you haven't watched tv in 10 years, you know what they are saying if you go on the internet. The most powerful agitation/propaganda machine in humanity's history reaches everyone, and sets narrative, like it or not; look at it or not.

Much better to angle on how to break into mass-reach Media's narrative-making mechanism. Mass-Reach Media ain't going away and the internet is not going to replace it.
