is rampant.  I think it's all an ego defense.  Right-wingers can't cope with the fact that: 1) they're wrong about everything; and 2) people are starting to notice that they're wrong about everything and they're losing elections.  So their minds create these conspiracy theories wherein everything they don't like or agree with was caused by some shadowy organization of Kenyan communists led by George Soros, gay Jews in Hollywood, MSNBC and the New York Times.

Right-wingers tend to elect representatives that reinforce their fears.  It always makes me wonder how they can claim to be so tough when nearly all of their policy positions are based on fear.

    •  Eh, not necessarily. (0+ / 0-)

These people are coming from a position of privilege, and they're seeing their privileges threatened. In that condition, people tend to get paranoid because they're frightened. They're scared that the people they've been shitting on for as long as they can remember are going to get up and shit on them. People on the right are looking for a) someone to blame for the whole threatened-privilege thing, and b) some way to make it stop. It's not going to stop, hopefully, but they're going to be freaking out for another 20 years or so.
