Classes were suspended early afternoon, TV turned on. Shortly after announcement the president was dead, school dismissed, we all went home. I don't remember being a minute away from the TV that weekend. All I remember is TV.  Assassination coverage. Oswald assassination coverage. JFK in rotunda, JFK burial. My father telling me we really didn't want Oswald to die, because he could tell us who was behind this, and me hoping he would die anyway. What a fucking mess.

conferences. I remember my mother going to these conferences with our teachers. And we were so happy because the teachers said we were both reading several grades above and doing well.

Then we sat down to eat lunch at the dining room table where we could see the tv. Mom turned on her soap opera and shortly thereafter, it was interrupted by the news.
