Let me second the value of The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need.  It was not the book that changed my life financially.  That honor goes to The Affluent Society by John Kenneth Galbraith.  He made me aware that I was buying lots of stuff just because I could.  From that day on, I started buying less and saving more.  But it was Tobias’s book that helped me invest the money I saved.  I have read dozens of books on economics, finance, and investment, many of them quite good, but if you want to read just one, this is it.  Short, simple, and funny, that book truly is the only investment guide you’ll ever need.

Of course, everyone knows a lot of what Tobias laid out in his book, but at the time it was all new to me. It made a profound difference in my life, I can tell you. For one thing, I was able to retire. :)
