Word came from a television in the smoker's lounge of the events in Dallas.  Within moments, the diverse tasks of many students in the library began to focus on just one topic, the death of the President.

I took the news quite personally as not just a supporter of JFK, but on an earlier Friday, November 4, 1960, as a 16 yo, I attended an election rally at the Chicago Stadium, where I had frequently attended Blackhawk hockey games:

Chicago Mayor, Richard Daley, paid for NBC to nationally cover JFK's speech at the rally.
