  •  Thanks, I've been pretty busy lately... (10+ / 0-)

This revelation does kinda blow the "9-11 changed everything" meme forced down our throats since 2001, doesn't it?

In reality, the WTC attacks just provided the government an excuse to escalate -- and make half-ass legitimate -- a longstanding (but unconstitutional) surveillance state.

about. No doubt in my mind about that.

      Insanity.

I can't even imagine some of the crap that resides under lock-and-key in these agencies.

who have nothing to rely on but the information their superficial optics provide do. They behave as if their other senses had been disabled. Plato, in his allegory of the cave described them--people fixated on the shadows on the wall and totally oblivious to their surroundings, the sounds made by their neighbors, even the pressure of the chains that bind them. It's as if sight were their only source of information; the idea their only reality.
The result is that the intent is taken for the act. Dubya's appologists refer to him as an idealist. He had an idea, to "bring democracy to Iraq," so he gave the orders and assumed when the bombing stopped that the deed was done.
Was there collateral damage? If nobody saw it, there wasn't.

How do such people come about? I think, since they are to be found all around the globe, they're the result of some pre-natal or peri-natal insult. It doesn't seem to be in the DNA because, if it were, there'd be more variability involved. The sensory deficits are too consistent to be happenstance. They're like the "blind, deaf and dumb," but less noticable because the deficits are more subtle.
