    global polity, so that American pastors fall under a discipline that is framed by a group that includes the African and South American Methodists. One reason the Episcopalians were able to have marriage equality and full inclusion before them is that the canons of the Episcopal church and other Anglican provinces are more local. The drawback to that is that some provinces take a longer time to come around to things like the ordination of women.

    Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? . . . and respect the dignity of every human being.

    •  I believe that Methodists consider themselves (0+ / 0-)

      to be Evangelical Formalists so they have some elements of more traditional churches such as the Episcopalian and other elements that are less hierarchical and more Fundamentalists.  For example, compare the various denominations' approaches to sacraments
