Song of Solomon is one of the most beautiful and truly erotic pieces of writing ever. That is celebrates human love and even sexuality is a constant reminder that we are, indeed, in God's image. No one, it seems, likes to think that human sexuality is a gift from God.

the times the discussions turned to whether the Song of Songs should stay in the canon. :-D

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? . . . and respect the dignity of every human being.

Though I'm glad it is. It humanizes the Scriptures in a way that is unparalleled, except, perhaps, for the Psalms--also deeply personal, deeply human. Damned good poetry, too. If I were asked, in fact, I'd probably have to say that the Psalms are dearer to me than any other collection of books in the Bible, maybe even above the Gospels themselves.
