  •  There is an anti-Cowboy meme here? (0+ / 0-)

I had no idea....   ..maybe its the hats?  or the Belt-buckles?

I am not a hunter (living in downtown Washington, DC) but there is a good chance I may be moving to Texas in the Spring depending on how things with my job pans out and if I do I look forward to shooting more than my share of Wild Boar.

Deer hunting in Maryland never seemed all that fun to me.  But I will gladly head out in the wee-hours to load my freezer up with this invasive species!!

    •  I'm very interested in seeing your national park (0+ / 0-)

(rock creek) with reintroduced large predators. I've heard mixed review of pig meat, some good some not. Might just be that many don't like wild meat period. If you had a convenient place for processing it would work out though I've heard they're smart and elusive.

The whitetail is an under appreciated animal. Programed for rapid reproducing and not very common they certainly found their niche after most the other large mammals went extinct here.

We have coyotes and foxes but I think that's as "large" as we're going to get in the predator department, unless you count Humans.

There has been periodic discussions about allowing a a limited deer hunt in Rock Creek but so far it has only been limited to NPS sharp-shooters who give the meat to homeless shelters.  Most recently, animal lovers tried to stop this via lawsuit back in March and failed.

cougars too. I keep saying I should start a web site and solicit donations, start lobying. Isn't that how it's done? I actually went bouldering there once forty years ago so I'm intimately familiar with all aspects of the wildlife ecology of the park. Yes that's snark.
