for hours worked over 40 in a week. federally there is no required bonus pay for working a holiday within the 40 hour work week.

The Senate has no guts. The House has no brains.

    •  Actually, 1.5 time isn't mandated by (0+ / 0-)

federal law -- as far as I know anyway.  There may be state laws that mandate time and a half after 40 hours, but I don't know of any law that says you have to pay an adjusted hourly rate for overtime -- or that overtime must begin at 40 hours.  It's been a while since I was hourly though, so maybe it's changed.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.

      •  overtime pay (0+ / 0-)

Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) must receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest, unless overtime hours are worked on such days.
Which employees are covered by FLSA?
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) , which prescribes standards for the basic minimum wage and overtime pay, affects most private and public employment. It requires employers to pay covered employees who are not otherwise exempt at least the federal minimum wage and overtime pay of one-and-one-half-times the regular rate of pay.
If you HAVE to be paid minimum wage and aren't a farmer, you get overtime for hours over 40 per week, and it's 1.5 times the normal rate minimum.

The Senate has no guts. The House has no brains.
