  •  Here's an idea: (19+ / 0-)

Now that this insurgent and illegitimate political party has been totally humiliated in the aftermath of the manufactured government shutdown (backed up with propaganda money from the Koch brothers), and by taking away the ridiculous filibuster option, why don't we start kicking them while they are down with the objective of total (political) annihilation to make sure their knuckle-dragging priorities are finally put to rest forever?

Go visceral, with the full intention to do harm (metaphorically-speaking), with a frontal counter-propaganda attack on the party, what they represent, their racist, homophobic, hateful, jingoistic, views.  Destroy them as a party so they can never rear their ugly head again...

And then, let's go after the third-way corporatist Democrats...

    •  For once, Ray, I'm mostly with ya. (5+ / 0-)

Only things I can't agree with are

      - "illegitimate". They've filed the paperwork, they're a legitimate party.

-" Destroy" - The predatory, the stupid, and the misguided will always be with us. The next incarnation may have a different name, but that's about all that changes.

But other than those couple of details, I'm with ya.

every single word I write in my posts, carefully.  When I use the word "illegitimate," I'm using it in this vein:

Washington Post: Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem.
We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.

The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

When one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the country’s challenges.

Either way, I see your point... Well taken.

with which they attack the president, the Democrats, liberal and progressives.  Think about their total disregard for the suffering of the most vulnerable people in this country.  Think about the choke-hold grotesque figures like the billionaires' Koch brothers and their ilk have on their party.

They are vile, sadistic, heartless, small-minded, and go out of their way to exploit (and spread) ignorance, to fan the fires of hate, of racism, of homophobia, and they do it with utter contempt, with hate, with total disregard.

Well, I feel the same way towards them (as a party).  The feeling is visceral.  If I had it within my power to totally destroy them as I party, I would do so in a heartbeat, without thinking twice.

You know why?  Because I don't think they are legitimate; they are anti-democratic, a dangerous insurgency with extreme views that have done incalculable damage to this country.

But that's just me....  I understand others want to be "reasonable" with these folks.  It is their prerogative.  Just don't expect unreasonable people to be reasonable.

And not stopping with Republicans but making sure we deal with them first. Actually, once the Republicans are defeated I wonder how long DINOs would remain Democrats? Quite a few of them would leave to join whatever the new Republican party was called.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics but they all pale in comparison to conservative talking points.

    •  Be nice to ALL democrats (0+ / 0-)

Ray - you need to first educate the nation.  As it is, only about 20-30% are as liberal as you sound. 30-40% are the moderate democrats, and we desperately need their votes.
