  •  I went through the WA exchange fairly early (0+ / 0-)

I ended up with expanded Medicaid based on my projected Social Security income. I may be getting an unanticipated (but wonderful) 4 month contract in the new year.

No criticism of the exchange intended, but I can't get an answer on the site and the navigator search function doesn't work. When I call I am auto-advised to call back later.

Anyway, the question is, should I stick with my current enrollment or try to figure out how to change it? I have already received my Medicaid card...

any changes to your income will be settled at tax time.  When you file, you will be expected to pay the difference up or down based on the tax credit you received.  You can re-apply now so that you won't have to pay later (but now is probably not a good time to fix anything!) or you can estimate how much the 4 month contract will affect your subsidy and put that money aside to pay at tax time.  Depends on how disciplined you are with money!

We are all in this together.

      •  I don't have a subsidy (0+ / 0-)

I am on expanded Medicaid. My base income is $976 a month Social Security. If I am lucky and pick up temp work, it will be more, but there is no way to predict. When you are living at a subsistence level most of the time you don't have enough money with which to be disciplined... If I get hit with a big tax bill next year, I'd likely be bankrupt.

It's all very confusing. I now feel I made a mistake in being an early adopter.
