    I ask them if that "rating" of theirs takes into account the fact that he likely saved much of the planet, and all of us, from death (or from never being born because our parents were killed).

    People often forget how close we got and how courageous he had to be in resisting the great pressure from his military   advisors. He had to think for himself, believe he wars right over the conclusions of all the "experts", and do the unprecedented in reaching out to Khrushchev.

    He was right. And many of them hated him for it, I'm sure.
