the idea is bogus.  "Family?"  Really?  No.

Thanksgiving is about food, food, food, food, food, and football.

Memorial Day has much more meaning than food, food, food, and football, don't you think?

    •  Depends on the person, the family, it really does (5+ / 0-)

as for some of my friends, it is all about food, food, food and sometimes football too.

But for my closest friends, it is about getting together with friends or family. Yes we spend time planning a tasty big menu. But then  we visit after we eat, drink some wine, and watch a movie.

I also have friends who eat dinner, visit, then decorate the house for Christmas on Black Friday.  We had a lot of neighbors growing up who we would see outside after dinner on Tgiving putting up their christmas lights.

My mom;s family is all about family and food. Dad grew up in a disjointed family where it was all about just being together as they grew up in dire poverty with little to eat.

So it does depend on the person, the family. I have friends who could care less about Tgiving and others who make a big deal out of travelling to be with family.
