  •  I remember if one needed a prescription on Sunday (3+ / 0-)

    Drug Stores would take turns being open and you had to call around to figure out which one was open. This was a big deal a few times when a family member had spent a Saturday night in the ER. I recall when ERs did not give meds to the patients to take with, just prescription slips.  
    And there my dad would be with a kidney stone attack, with a throw up back in the backseat..and we get him a shot of demerol and then drive around looking for a pharmacy which was open only a couple of hours on a Sunday.

    I was this new teenage driver going all over town looking for a pharmacy for Dad.
